Understanding the challenge

Across the world, we are witnessing a coordinated and well-funded backlash against LGBTI+ people and communities. Hard-won rights are being rolled back, discriminatory laws are spreading, and anti-rights movements are gaining influence across political, social, and cultural spaces. These developments are not isolated incidents; they are part of a broader global trend that threatens decades of progress.

In response to this escalating crisis, Kaleidoscope Trust has launched the Global LGBTI+ Rights Commission: a time-bound, global initiative designed to understand, confront, and respond to the rollback of LGBTI+ rights worldwide.

At the heart of the Commission are three urgent questions:

  • How did we get here?
  • What do we do now?
  • Where do we go next?
