The British legacy of homophobia in Commonwealth - how colonial era laws shape international LGBT rights activism
To mark this year's LGBT history month Alistair Stewart, Acting Executive Director of the Kaleidoscope Trust, will speak about the rights of LGBT people in the Commonwealth, where 42 out of 53 member states currently have laws criminalising homosexuality. Alistair will look at the history of anti-sodomy laws and other relevant laws relating to LGBT people in the Commonwealth and how this enduring colonial legacy impacts on international human rights work.
