Kaleidoscope Trust is a leading member of The Commonwealth Equality Network, a coalition of LGBTI+ and human rights activists working to end discrimination against LGBTI people in the Commonwealth.

Last month, we hosted a conference in London for representatives from 20 of the Network’s member organisations in 19 countries. Over three productive days, we developed and agreed a clear roadmap going forward for advancing our cause as a network. This new advocacy strategy will take us from now through to the spring 2018 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM), when the UK government will welcome prime ministers and other government decision-makers from the 52 countries of the Commonwealth to London to discuss common issues.

CHOGMs are critical opportunities for The Commonwealth Equality Network: we made ground-breaking progress at the 2015 meeting in Malta, where—for the first time ever—we ensured LGBTI issues and people were visible and used our influence to get language directly relevant to our cause included in the Leaders’ Communiqué.

Our ambition is to push the envelope on what is possible to continue advancing the human rights of LGBTI people and communities across the Commonwealth. With this new strategy—and your support—we can make this happen.
