LGBTI+ communities are under attack.

Far-right evangelical groups are fuelling a rise in coordinated anti-LGBTI+ hate across the Commonwealth. Governments are emboldened to jeopardise the safety and dignity of countless LGBTI+ people – in blatant violation of the values in the Commonwealth Charter they claim to uphold and their human rights commitments.

Later this year, Secretary-General Scotland will meet with the 56 presidents and prime ministers of the Commonwealth at the first Heads of Government Meeting since 2022. It is her last chance to shape her legacy: she can choose to continue remaining silent on these attacks against LGBTI+ communities and our human rights – or she can seize this opportunity to take a stand.
