Kaleidoscope Trust’s 2024 CHOGM Shadow Report is a critical tool that provides a comprehensive overview of the state of LGBTI+ rights across the Commonwealth. It highlights the legal, social, and political challenges faced by LGBTI+ individuals in member states, particularly in the 29 countries where same-sex sexual activity is still criminalised. The report emphasises the systemic discrimination, violence, and exclusion that LGBTI+ people endure, while also showcasing the activism and progress made in certain regions.

The 2024 CHOGM Shadow Report serves as an alternative voice at the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM), offering a counter-narrative to official government reports. It amplifies the lived experiences of LGBTI+ communities, bringing attention to issues that may be overlooked or minimised in official discourse. It also includes key recommendations for Commonwealth governments, urging them to decriminalise same-sex relationships, introduce anti-discrimination laws, and promote inclusive policies in areas such as health, education, and economic development.

To make this vital information more accessible, Kaleidoscope Trust has also produced an Executive Summary of the 2024 CHOGM Shadow Report, distilling the key findings and recommendations for a broader audience, including policymakers, donors, and media outlets. Additionally, we have created several information sheets in different languages. They are designed to be used by civil society organisations, activists, and advocates to support their work in pushing for change at both national and international levels.
