Global LGBTI Human Rights Conference – Non Violence, Non Discrimination And Social Inclusion
This week our Executive Director will attend the Global LGBTI Human Rights Conference – Non Violence, Non Discrimination And Social Inclusion, from 13th to 15th July in Montevideo, Uruguay, and the civil society pre-conference on 12th July.
Dr Felicity Daly is the delegate from UK civil society and has been appointed to the working group on LGBTI inclusion in Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development.
The UK government delegation, headed by Ian Duddy, Counsellor at the UK Mission to the UN in Geneva, is contributing to a working group on Donor Coordination.
Their work will reference the 2013-2014 Global Resources Report: Government and Philanthropic Support for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Intersex Communities which can be found here.
In this report, the Kaleidoscope Trust published an annex which found 0.02% of all Official Development Assistance was targeted to LGBTI/SOGI over 2002-2013 under the Millennium Development Goals.
We will be among the voices calling for greater disbursements of aid to meet the Sustainable Development Goals that delivers for the basic needs of LGBTI people and contributes to the movement to end discrimination, persecution and violence on the basis of sexual orientation and gender.
